Matthew Alexander Gelpin, 44, was found dead from gunshot wounds in Birmingham, Alabama, on November 22, 2021. The incident unfolded near Bates Automotive on Richard Arrington Jr. Boulevard after police were alerted by Birmingham’s ShotSpotter system around 3:40 p.m. When officers arrived, they found Gelpin lying on the sidewalk, and he was declared deceased by emergency responders at the scene.
