Brian Arthur Shaw, a 67-year-old male, was killed by gun violence on May 25, 2021, in his Odenville neighborhood. Born in Sudbury, Ontario, Canada, on January 30, 1954, Brian had made a life for himself in Alabama after graduating from Homewood High School and pursuing a degree in Electronics.
Brian was known by friends and family as a man with a big heart and a passion for helping others. This was evident in his varied career, which began in electronics and later transitioned to a home remodeling business. His desire to assist those in need eventually led him to volunteer with the American Red Cross, where he dedicated over 8000 hours to helping people affected by disasters. His friends remember him as a man of many interests who, despite facing his own hardships, never lost his capacity for kindness.
The circumstances of his death prompted an investigation by the St. Clair County Sheriff's Office. Their efforts led to the arrest of Andray La'Quarn Pope, Jr., a 20-year-old from Evergreen. Pope was taken into custody without incident and subsequently charged with murder. He was booked into the St. Clair County Jail in Ashville and held without bond as the investigation into Brian's death continued.
