On January 20, 2020, 19-year-old James Brody Sargent of Irondale, Alabama, was fatally shot in Leeds. The incident occurred around 9:51 p.m. in the 1000 block of King Forest Drive. Leeds police responded to a call reporting shots fired at that location. By the time first responders arrived, Sargent had been transported by private vehicle to Grandview Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead at 10:42 p.m.
