In the early hours of March 16, 2021, the stillness of a Bessemer, Alabama neighborhood was broken by the sound of gunshots. Responding to the reports at approximately 1:18 a.m., Bessemer police officers arrived in the 1500 block of Berkley Alley to find a scene that would soon become a lingering mystery. Inside a white Chrysler 300 that had come to a stop, they discovered 20-year-old Chase Debore Green suffering from a gunshot wound.
Despite the immediate response from law enforcement
and medical personnel, Green’s injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was one of two young men who lost their lives in separate shootings in the city on that same day, casting a dark shadow over the community. The Jefferson County Coroner's Office later identified Green, confirming another life cut tragically short by gun violence.
In the days that followed, the Bessemer Police Department launched a homicide investigation into the death of Chase Green. However, the case has grown cold over time. Information regarding a motive for the shooting, or any potential suspects, has not been released to the public. As of early 2026, no arrests have been made in connection with the murder of Chase Debore Green, and his case is now listed as an unsolved homicide with Crime Stoppers of Metro Alabama.
