On a cold winter evening in Brattleboro, Vermont, the tranquility of Elliot Street was shattered by the outbreak of a fire. On February 23, 1981, at approximately 8:30 p.m., emergency services responded to a blaze at a local residence. Inside, they discovered the body of the homeowner, 39-year-old Donald Norcia. It was quickly determined that the fire was not the cause of his death.
