On July 24, 1998, the body of Sharon Russ McCool, a 35-year-old woman, was discovered near the intersection of Great Oaks Drive and Conchos Valley Drive in Round Rock, Williamson County, Texas. A civilian passing by the area found her body and notified authorities. The autopsy revealed that Sharon McCool died from blunt force trauma to the head, with her death classified as a homicide.
