On October 6, 2003, Harold Jones was shot and killed while visiting an apartment in Tyler, Texas. Several male suspects, described as wearing dark hooded sweatshirts, approached the apartment located at 1309 North Ross Street. They knocked on the door, and when it was answered, two men entered the residence. Armed with handguns, they shot Jones while he was sitting on the couch. He sustained multiple gunshot wounds, and despite being rushed to a local hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.
