Diego Saucedo, age 30, was killed in a shootout that took place on June 8, 2007, in southwest Houston, Texas. The incident happened late at night, around 11:50 p.m., and resulted in one death and injuries to two others. The shootout occurred near a Valero gas station on Honeywell Street, and the confrontation extended to nearby Ponderosa Street.
Diego Saucedo was found beside the road in the 9200 block of Ponderosa, having suffered multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene. Shortly after the shooting, one man collapsed at a Valero gas station, suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen, and was subsequently transported to Ben Taub General Hospital for surgery. Another man involved in the incident drove himself to Memorial Hermann Southwest Hospital with gunshot wounds to his chest and leg. Both injured men were expected to survive their injuries.
According to police, there appeared to have been a confrontation involving all three men that escalated into a shootout. Witnesses reported hearing multiple gunshots, and investigators recovered two firearms—one near Saucedo's body and the other at the gas station. Authorities were still trying to determine the cause of the confrontation as they continued the investigation into the tragic incident.
