On December 28, 2007, Steve Jr. Sanford, aged 63, was killed in his home in northwest Houston, Texas. The incident occurred in the early hours, around 4:45 a.m., when a fire broke out at his residence. Authorities determined that the fire had been deliberately set in an effort to cover up a violent crime. Sanford was found in a bedroom by firefighters, and it was later confirmed that he had died as a result of blunt impact trauma to the head, causing skull fractures and brain injury. Smoke inhalation and thermal injuries from the fire also contributed to his death.
The investigation revealed that Sanford's car was missing, adding another layer of complexity to the case. Sanford, who had recently retired from a tool company, lived alone and was described by his sister as someone who would share anything with others, leaving his family baffled as to the motive behind his brutal death. Despite repeated attempts by his family to seek justice and keep the case in the public's attention, the homicide remains unsolved to this day.
