On the night of January 18, 2008, the life of 19-year-old Corey Lewis, an African American male from Houston, Texas, was senselessly and tragically cut short. Corey was found fatally shot at his apartment located at 10965 South Gessner Road in the southwest part of the city—a place that should have represented safety and familiarity. Instead, it became the site of a haunting loss that continues to echo through the hearts of his family, friends, and community.
