On February 10, 2008, 26-year-old Zhiyuan "Ryan" Chen was shot and killed in a shopping center parking lot in Houston, Texas. The incident occurred outside the Tan Do Chinese Restaurant near the 9300 block of Bellaire Boulevard at Ranchester. Chen, an international student from China who was attending Texas Southern University, was talking on his cell phone when he was approached by two men. One of the men pulled out a gun and shot Chen multiple times before fleeing the scene.
