Braziel had been severely beaten, and authorities were unable to determine why she was targeted. The investigation into her death yielded no immediate suspects, and no arrests have been made since.
Terri was trying to turn her life around, having recently completed a drug rehabilitation program and earned her GED. She had moved to Houston from Florida several years earlier and was excited about the prospect of reuniting with her 7-month-old son, who was in her mother's custody. Braziel was also part of a transitional living program and was looking forward to starting anew, though she struggled to find stable employment. Her death was a tragic loss, leaving her family, including her mother Coral Braziel and her young son, in deep grief. Despite the efforts of investigators, the case remains unsolved.
