On August 8, 2012, 30-year-old Robert Batiste was fatally shot while walking along Martin Luther King Boulevard in southeast Houston, Texas. Surveillance footage from a nearby cellphone store captured the incident, showing Batiste being approached and shot by an unknown assailant. Despite the availability of this footage, the shooter fled the scene, and no immediate arrests were made.
