Who killed James Castillo?
James Castillo, aged 33, was killed on August 11, 2014, in San Antonio, Texas, during an incident in a North Side mobile home community. The fatal shooting occurred in the 16200 block of U.S. 281, just after 10 p.m. Castillo and his girlfriend were driving through the neighborhood when they stopped at a stop sign. At that moment, several people approached their 2002 Chevrolet Trail Blazer, leading to an argument. During the altercation, Castillo and his girlfriend got out of the car. While his girlfriend was held in a choke hold and assaulted, Castillo was shot in the back by one of the assailants.

After being shot, Castillo managed to drive a short distance down the street before coming to a stop. Emergency medical technicians arrived at the scene, but Castillo was pronounced dead shortly thereafter. The suspected shooter fled the scene on foot, and the San Antonio Police Department has continued to investigate the case, seeking the identity of those involved. As of the latest information, the shooter remains unidentified, and the authorities have requested help from the public, offering a reward through San Antonio Crime Stoppers for any tips leading to an arrest.

The investigation into Castillo's death underscores the dangers of seemingly spontaneous confrontations turning violent, and the police have encouraged anyone with knowledge of the incident to come forward. San Antonio Crime Stoppers has offered a reward of up to $5,000 for information that could help solve the case, urging the community to assist in bringing those responsible to justice.
