On January 26, 2015, James Humphrey, 27, was fatally shot in Houston, Texas. He was discovered at an auto dealership in the northern part of the city, Immaculate Auto Sales, where he was one of three victims in a deadly incident. The shooting occurred after James Tinsley, 22 at the time, entered the dealership with a firearm. Reports indicated that the motive behind the attack was a dispute over a vehicle that had been repossessed, leading Tinsley to enter the business, shoot three members of
the Contreras family, and attempt to set the dealership on fire.
The victims, including Jesse and Tony Contreras, as well as Tony's son Casey Contreras, were all shot in the head. Two of the victims were pronounced dead at the scene, while one passed away the following day. Tinsley was later apprehended and charged with capital murder, receiving a sentence of life in prison without parole. The motive, according to prosecutors, was rooted in Tinsley's anger over the repossession of a car he had bought from the dealership, which led to the violent confrontation.
