On July 30, 2015, 18-year-old Jairo Santander was found dead in Houston, Texas, in an incident believed to be gang-related. The homicide occurred in the midst of heightened gang activity in the area, which involved numerous violent crimes attributed to the transnational MS-13 gang. Jairo Santander's death was part of a series of brutal killings that took place around the same period, sparking a crackdown by law enforcement authorities.
