On the afternoon of May 19, 2016, Houston police officers responded to a call at the Oaks of Charleston Park Apartments, located at 16 Charleston Park in southwest Houston. Upon arrival around 2:15 p.m., they discovered Marcus Roosevelt Denhams, a 26-year-old African American male, lying unresponsive in the parking lot. Despite attempts to administer CPR, Mr. Denhams was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics. Investigators determined that he had suffered a fatal gunshot wound. At the time, ...
