Jamil Melvay Penix, aged 23, was tragically shot and killed on May 23, 2016, at the Kings Row Apartments located on Barberry Drive in Houston, Texas. Originally from Detroit, Michigan, Jamil was visiting Houston to explore new job opportunities and build a better future for himself.
