On September 2, 2016, 20-year-old Victor Anaya Jr. and 16-year-old Alexis Silva were fatally stabbed at the Cancun Apartments in Houston's Spring Branch area. The incident occurred when a security guard approached a group of individuals, including Anaya and Silva, who were reportedly drinking and asked them to leave the premises.
