Harvey Lozano, a 19-year-old Hispanic male, was tragically killed in a drive-by shooting on November 14, 2016, in San Antonio, Texas. The incident occurred on the West Side of the city, near his home on Fortuna Street. Lozano had been involved in an altercation earlier that day at a gas station, where he exchanged glances—referred to as the "stink eye"—with another individual. This seemingly minor confrontation escalated when the suspect, Adam Anthony Morales, a 22-year-old documented gang member known by the nickname "Danger," followed Lozano home.
According to reports, Morales confronted Lozano about his gang affiliation before the situation intensified. Lozano, attempting to defuse the tension, suggested settling the dispute with a physical fight at a nearby car wash rather than resorting to violence. However, Morales pursued Lozano to his residence, where the fatal shooting took place. Lozano approached Morales' vehicle after the suspect claimed to know his brother and father. At that moment, Morales allegedly fired at Lozano, striking him in the abdomen. Despite being wounded, Lozano managed to return fire before succumbing to his injuries. He was later pronounced dead at University Hospital.
Following the shooting, authorities launched an investigation that led to Morales' arrest. A witness identified Morales as the shooter in a photo lineup, and his mother confirmed that he had been driving a green four-door car, which matched the description of the suspect's vehicle. Morales was subsequently charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Lozano.
Lozano's family, devastated by the loss, held a vigil in his honor, where his uncle emphasized that despite Lozano's tattoos, he was not affiliated with any gang. Lozano left behind a young son, adding to the heartbreak of his untimely death. The case highlighted the dangers of gang-related violence and the tragic consequences of seemingly minor disputes escalating into deadly encounters.
