On April 26, 2017, Melvin Davis, a 29-year-old resident of Houston, Texas, was shot and killed in the parking lot of the Vineyard Townhomes at 9550 Deering Drive in southwest Houston. The incident occurred in broad daylight, around 11:40 a.m., when a dark-colored Chevrolet Avalanche pulled into a nearby parking space.
