Byiringiro Mupenzi, a 25-year-old Congolese refugee, was found dead on May 30, 2017, in the parking lot of his apartment complex in Houston, Texas. He was discovered naked and suffered severe lacerations, leading authorities to believe he was decapitated. Mupenzi had fled the Democratic Republic of Congo during the civil war and had been living in Houston for four years.
