On October 15, 2017, four-year-old Ashley Perdomo was killed in a quadruple shooting at the Westward Square Apartments located in the Gulfton neighborhood of southwest Houston, Texas. The incident occurred around 10:40 p.m. as Ashley, her mother Carol Perdomo, and other victims were gathered outside in the breezeway of the apartment complex. The shooter, an unknown male suspect, approached and opened fire, hitting four individuals, including Ashley and her mother.

Ashley was rushed to Memorial Hermann Hospital, but she sadly succumbed to her injuries. Another victim, Miguel Marquez, age 31, was pronounced dead at the scene, while Ashley's mother, Carol Perdomo, and Zibullah Sahok, 30, were both hospitalized with injuries. Carol was reported to be in good condition, while Sahok remained in critical condition. Witnesses reported that the shooter fled the scene, and authorities described the suspect as a Hispanic male. Despite initial witness accounts, no detailed description was available, and the police were left without a clear motive for the shooting. The Houston Police Department is still seeking information to solve this case, urging anyone with details to contact them or Crime Stoppers.

The tragic event shocked neighbors and the community, with many expressing their grief over Ashley's death, especially given the senseless nature of the violence. Witnesses recounted that the group had been enjoying a quiet evening before the sudden gunfire erupted. The case remains unsolved, and local residents, as well as the authorities, hope for justice to be served in memory of Ashley and Miguel Marquez.
