In the winter of 2011, a quiet Memphis neighborhood was disturbed by a violent home invasion that would ultimately claim the life of an elderly resident. Monroe Pierce, an 86-year-old Caucasian male, was in his home on Benjestown Road in the early morning hours of December 11th when an intruder broke in. The unknown assailant attacked Pierce, striking him in the head with an object before stealing several items from his home and fleeing the scene.
