In the early morning hours of November 16, 2016, the life of 63-year-old Kenneth White, a Black male from Memphis, Tennessee, was tragically cut short. His body was discovered at the intersection of Elder and Daggett, the victim of a brutal hit and run.
Investigators determined that a silver vehicle had struck White multiple times before fleeing the scene, leaving him to succumb to his injuries. The deliberate nature of the act led police to treat the case as a homicide.
For months, the investigation continued without a named suspect, leaving a community searching for answers.
A break in the case came nearly nine months later, in August 2017. U.S. Marshals located and arrested a suspect, Cottrell Greene, in connection with White's death. Greene was subsequently charged with first-degree murder, bringing a glimmer of hope for justice to White's family and friends. Following his arrest, Greene was booked into the Shelby County Jail.
