On the night of March 29, 2002, 30-year-old Linzy Pierson, also known as "Bugsy," was fatally shot on the sidewalk in the 4600 block of Hartley Street in San Diego, California. Pierson was found by police officers who responded to a report of gunshots in the area. Upon their arrival, they discovered Pierson suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
