In the spring of 2012, the life of a young Philadelphia man, Tyrone Mcfadden, was cut short by a burst of gunfire in a violent encounter that left two other men wounded. On the evening of May 17, 2012, the 22-year-old male was on Sharswood Street, near 54th Street in West Philadelphia, when shots rang out just before 8 p.m. Mcfadden was struck multiple times, with two gunshot wounds to his forehead and two to his left leg. Rushed to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, he was pronounced dead at 11:25 p.m.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting saw a swift police response, with the Southwest Detective Division launching an investigation into the deadly assault. At the scene, investigators recovered ten shell casings, indicating that two different handguns were used in the attack. The two other victims, men aged 24 and 26, suffered wounds to their arms and legs but were in stable condition at the same hospital where Mcfadden succumbed to his injuries.
