On a Sunday morning in April 2016, the body of 21-year-old Saadiq Abdull Latiyf, also known as Saadiq Richardson, was discovered lying in the street behind a parked vehicle in West Philadelphia. Medics, responding to a call about an unresponsive male shortly after 9 a.m. on the 300 block of South Saint Bernard Street, near Barkan Park, found that Latiyf had sustained a puncture wound to his upper chest. He was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:22 a.m.
Philadelphia police officers from the 18th District began an investigation into what they believed to be a fatal stabbing. A cell phone was found lying next to Latiyf's body, but no weapon was recovered from the immediate area. In the days following the discovery, authorities appealed to the public for any information regarding the crime and urged anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Southwest Detective Division.
Despite the initial investigation and the public appeal for information, there have been no subsequent news reports or publicly available updates concerning any arrests made or suspects identified in connection with the death of Saadiq Latiyf. The case, as of the last available reports, remains an open investigation.
