Woman found murdered a year after going missing
In December 1984, Vida Mae Hirschey was reported missing from the Jackson County area in Oregon. Despite efforts to locate her, it was not until a year later, in December 1985, that her body was found at the bottom of Applegate Lake. Hirschey's death was ruled a homicide, with evidence pointing to a violent attack. She had suffered blunt force trauma, leading authorities to believe she had been murdered sometime before her body was discovered.
