Do you know who murdered Velma? In the early hours of a cold January morning in 1987, a terrifying ordeal shattered the peace of a Tulsa, Oklahoma neighborhood and ended the life of 38-year-old Velma Wilson. On January 29th, at approximately 1:00 a.m., one or more intruders forced their way into Wilson's home located at 22 N. 50th W. Avenue. The shocking invasion triggered a desperate flight for safety.
Despite the immense fear that must have gripped her, Wilson managed to escape the clutches of the intruder or
intruders. She fled from her residence and made her way to a neighbor's house, a beacon of hope in the darkness of that night. It was from this safe haven that she was able to alert the authorities, calling the police to report the break-in.
Tragically, the terror of the home invasion had taken a severe toll on her. Shortly after making the call for help, Velma Wilson collapsed. Though emergency services arrived, it was too late. She was pronounced dead at the scene. An autopsy would later reveal that the cause of her death was a heart attack, a direct result of the extreme stress and trauma she endured during the violent intrusion into her home.
The case of Velma Wilson's death remains an open and unsolved investigation for the Tulsa Police Department. Despite the passage of time, no arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with the break-in that led to her untimely death.
