On July 9, 2004, Earl Ray Williams, a 44-year-old rancher from Holdenville, Oklahoma, was found murdered near his home. His body was discovered in a park under a sheet by a passerby who initially believed he may have been the victim of a gunshot or stabbing. The investigation later confirmed that Williams had been stabbed to death after a violent struggle. Blood evidence found at his residence and on his porch indicated that the altercation likely began at his home before he was killed.
