On February 6, 2012, Laharry "LJ" Myers, a 21-year-old former basketball star from Memorial High School in Tulsa, was shot and killed outside a restaurant on North Peoria Avenue. Myers, who was working at H&R Block at the time, had left his job to grab food when he was confronted and fatally shot in the parking lot of the Asian Express restaurant. Despite multiple witnesses hearing the gunshots, no one reported seeing the shooter, leaving the investigation open.
