On May 18, 2012, Janica Shoals, a 50-year-old woman from Oklahoma City, was found dead in her apartment at the Ridgeview complex. Her body was discovered by her daughter, who, along with a neighbor, notified the authorities. Shoals had been shot in the head and shoulder, and her death was quickly ruled a homicide.
