On July 23, 2013, 57-year-old James Edgar Canaday was found dead in his home in southeast Oklahoma City. Police discovered his body around 9 p.m. at 429 S.E. 55th Street, where he had suffered fatal trauma consistent with a homicide. It was later revealed that Canaday had been shot at close range in the face and neck with a shotgun, leading authorities to believe it was a deliberate attack.
