On June 10, 2015, Dennis Johnson Jr., 34, was brutally murdered in Oklahoma City. His body was later found burned under a bridge in Ada, Oklahoma. Derrick Laday, the main suspect, was accused of stabbing Johnson to death and then burning his body. Laday was convicted of first-degree murder, among other charges, in 2021. Despite his defense attorney arguing for mercy based on Laday's troubled upbringing and involvement in gang life, the jury sentenced him to death .
