On April 9, 2008, 37-year-old Luis Solari was tragically shot and killed while driving on Interstate 280 in San Francisco. Solari, a Richmond resident, was driving southbound near the Alemany and Monterey Boulevard exits around 6 p.m. when the shooting occurred. At the time of the incident, his two young sons, aged seven and eight, were in the back seat of the car. Thankfully, the children were not physically harmed during the attack.
Witnesses reported seeing a red four-door car in the area, which investigators believe may have been involved in the shooting. However, no arrests were made at the time, and the motive behind the murder remains unclear.
Solari, known as "Al" by those close to him, was a well-liked and hardworking employee at Cherin’s Appliance in San Francisco. His death deeply affected his family, friends, and the community. In the aftermath of the shooting, Solari’s employer set up a benefit fund to help support his widow, Lilia Guzman-Solari, and their children. Despite the public outcry and reward offers for information leading to an arrest, the case has remained unsolved for years. The authorities continue to seek new leads in their pursuit of justice for Solari and his family.
