Huan Zhou Chen, an 83-year-old man, was fatally attacked on January 24, 2010, in San Francisco's Bayview neighborhood. On that day, Chen had just exited the Muni T-Third Street line at the 3rd Street and Oakdale Avenue stop, and was walking towards his assisted living facility when he was assaulted by a group of six juvenile males. The attackers struck him on the head, causing him to fall and hit his head on the sidewalk.
Chen was found bleeding and disoriented before being rushed to San Francisco General Hospital. Although he was initially discharged, his injuries proved fatal, and he succumbed to them on March 19, 2010.
This attack was described as "senseless," and the case remains unsolved despite multiple efforts to gather more information. The San Francisco Police Department and the Mayor's Office have offered a $100,000 reward for any information leading to the arrest and conviction of the attackers.
