On May 9, 1992, Ronald Pohl, a 57-year-old avid hunter, was shot and killed while turkey hunting in the woods of Salem Township, Meigs County, Ohio. Pohl had traveled from the Dayton area with his son for a hunting trip in the western part of Meigs County. The two separated once they entered the woods, with plans to meet later in the day.
