On September 6, 2005, Tony Swain Jr., a 10-year-old boy from Akron, Ohio, tragically lost his life in a hit-and-run incident. Around 7:45 AM, Tony and his 6-year-old sister were walking to school near Lovers Lane and Hammel when a speeding vehicle approached. In a heroic act, Tony pushed his sister out of the way to save her, but he was struck by the vehicle. The driver continued without stopping, leaving Tony fatally injured at the scene.
