Felecia Goodsen-Battle was tragically killed on January 5, 2006, in Dayton, Ohio. The incident took place in the early morning hours, where she and another woman, Elizabeth Davis, were victims of a double homicide. Felecia was 44 years old at the time of her death. The fatal event unfolded when Elizabeth Davis was shot and killed inside a kitchen on Vernon Drive. Felecia, in a desperate attempt to flee, was pursued by the attacker and fatally shot in the back of the head on the porch of a nearby home on Grand Avenue.
The case has remained unsolved for many years. In 2015, a suspect named Velis S. Nelson was arrested in connection with the homicides, facing multiple counts of murder and felonious assault. However, a grand jury later declined to indict Nelson, leading to his release from custody. Despite his arrest, the evidence presented did not result in charges, and the investigation remains ongoing, with no conclusive resolution for the victims' families. Nelson, also known by the alias Willie Dixon, had a criminal record involving aggravated robbery, for which he was convicted in 2008.
The family of Felecia Goodsen-Battle, along with those of other victims, has held vigils to honor her memory and raise awareness about the unsolved nature of her case. The Dayton Police Department and the Ohio Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) continue to seek new leads, urging anyone with information to come forward to help provide justice for Felecia and her loved ones. Despite the years that have passed, the families have not given up hope that justice will eventually be served.
