On August 26, 2008, 19-year-old African American male Andre Kenneth Bowers was fatally shot in Cleveland, Ohio. The incident occurred at approximately 4:44 a.m. at a duplex located at 13213/15 Edgewater Avenue in Cuyahoga County. At the time, Bowers was sitting on the front porch of the downstairs apartment when several gunshots were heard. In an attempt to seek safety, he entered the duplex; however, two more gunshots were heard while he was inside.
A resident of the duplex closed the door after the second round of gunshots and discovered Bowers deceased in her living room.
The case remains unsolved, with no arrests made or suspects identified. The Cleveland Police Department continues to investigate the homicide, and the Ohio Attorney General's Office has listed the case among its unsolved homicides.
Andre Bowers was the cherished son of Angela Callahan and the loving brother of Immanuel Callahan, Gabriel, Kenneth II, and Angelique Williams. His funeral services were held on September 5, 2008, at H. M. Martin Funeral Home in Cleveland, Ohio.
The duplex where the incident occurred has since been demolished. The Ohio Attorney General's Office continues to seek information regarding this case and encourages anyone with knowledge to come forward.
