On July 4, 2013, Stephan Austin Jr., age 39, was fatally shot on the front porch of a residence at 608 E. 4th Avenue in Columbus, Ohio. Officers responded shortly after midnight to reports of a gunshot and found Austin with severe injuries. Despite immediate efforts to revive him, he was pronounced dead at the scene. This incident occurred during a particularly violent holiday weekend in Columbus, which saw multiple shootings, leaving several people dead or injured.
