On January 11, 2014, Stephen Halton Jr., a 30-year-old anesthesia technician at the Cleveland Clinic, was fatally shot while waiting at a bus stop in Cleveland, Ohio. Halton, a dedicated medical worker, had been on call for an organ transplant surgery scheduled for early that morning. He left home before dawn to catch a bus to the hospital and arrived at a stop near Lakeshore Boulevard and Grovewood Avenue around 4:50 a.m.
It was there, as he waited alone in the early morning hours, that he was approached and shot. Witnesses nearby reported hearing a commotion followed by a single gunshot, but no one has been able to identify a suspect.
Since the incident, Halton’s murder has remained an open case. The Cleveland Division of Police enlisted the help of Ohio’s Bureau of Criminal Investigation (BCI) in 2021, allowing cold case detectives to re-examine evidence and look for new leads. Authorities have continued to appeal to the public, emphasizing that even minor details could play a crucial role in solving this case. Halton’s family, including his two young children, has been left without answers for years, expressing hope that someone with information will come forward to provide closure.
