On February 27, 2015, Michael Rinehart, aged 31, was fatally shot while attempting to break into a home in Columbus, Ohio. The incident occurred when Rinehart kicked down the door of a 71-year-old homeowner, Joseph Miklich. Upon breaking in, Rinehart was shot by Miklich, who then called 911 to report the shooting. Police found Rinehart deceased on the front porch.
