On July 25, 2017, 28-year-old Lian Cung Hung was tragically shot while driving on the southbound Interstate 75 ramp from 6th Street in Downtown Cincinnati, Ohio. At around 5:10 p.m., Lian was traveling in his 2005 blue Toyota Camry with his wife, Siang Hlei Par, as the passenger. They were the only occupants of the vehicle when the incident occurred. Lian was shot while the car was in traffic, and the vehicle subsequently veered off to the right, eventually coming to a stop at a guardrail. He was transported to the hospital but succumbed to his injuries the following day at 8:16 p.m.

Lian and his wife were Burmese immigrants, and Mrs. Par, who spoke limited English, reported that she did not hear any commotion such as car horns or sudden maneuvers that would indicate a road rage incident. Several witnesses heard gunshots, but no one saw a shooter. Video footage obtained from a nearby public transportation bus recorded two consecutive gunshots, and the video showed Lian's vehicle colliding with another car before coming to a stop. Despite extensive investigation, no shell casings were found at the scene, and the fragments recovered from Lian’s body and vehicle were not sufficient to determine the type of firearm used. Authorities believe the shot may have come from an adjacent ramp, adding to the difficulty in solving the case due to the congestion and multiple traffic routes in the area at the time of the shooting.

Lian's family, still grieving his untimely death, has pleaded for anyone with information to come forward. Cincinnati Police are continuing their investigation, and Lian's murder remains an unsolved case. His loved ones and local authorities are urging the community to help bring justice to Lian, hoping that someone who may have witnessed something that day will step forward with information.
