On July 16, 1980, 62-year-old Cecil Griffin was found dead in his home in Gastonia, North Carolina. His body was discovered on the kitchen floor by a neighbor the following morning. Griffin had been stabbed multiple times in the chest, back, and throat, and the crime appeared to be the result of a robbery.
