Sarah, known to distrust banks, would often hide large sums of money in her home and clothing. After she disappeared, her family found over $25,000 hidden in various locations around her house. Her body was eventually discovered submerged in an abandoned well near Tryon Elementary School. An artificial Christmas tree had been placed on top of her remains, indicating an attempt to conceal the crime.
