Delacey Mwase Glover, a 29-year-old resident of Charlotte, North Carolina, was tragically killed on January 21, 2000, in a senseless act of violence. Glover and two friends were walking home from a birthday party around 11:30 PM near 3127 Central Avenue when they encountered a vehicle with three or four men inside. One of the men in the car asked Glover and his friends if they had anything to smoke, but they did not. Soon after, one of Glover's friends overheard a conversation in the car, where a man in the back seat was on the phone, seemingly asking about a robbery involving people matching their descriptions.
Shortly after this exchange, two men exited the vehicle and opened fire. As Glover and his friends fled, he was the only one struck by the bullets. He was rushed to the Carolinas Medical Center (CMC), where he later died from his injuries.
