Do you know who murdered Cristina Gonzalez-Rubin? In the early morning hours of May 1, 1997, the body of 62-year-old Caucasian female Cristina Gonzalez-Rubin was discovered lying on the ground in the parking lot of the Sierra Park Apartments in southern Las Vegas. A visitor to the city from Florida, her identity was initially unknown to the authorities. It was only after she failed to return home that her family's inquiries with the Clark County Coroner's Office would lead to her identification.
Investigators learned that Gonzalez-Rubin
had been staying at the Circus-Circus Hotel. She was last seen by friends on April 30, 1997, at approximately 5:00 p.m. at Circus Circus, wearing a short-sleeved yellow knit top and white-and-black checked slacks. Later that evening, she was seen getting on a CAT bus. Her movements were traced to the Monte Carlo and New York-New York casinos, where she was reportedly playing mini-baccarat until around 11:30 p.m. What transpired in the hours between her leaving the casinos and the discovery of her body remains a mystery.
In the days following the discovery, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department issued a plea to the public for any information that could help piece together Cristina's final hours. They were particularly interested in speaking with anyone who may have seen her or had knowledge of her whereabouts after she left the casinos. Despite their efforts and a reward being offered for information leading to an arrest, no suspects have ever been publicly identified, and the case of who was responsible for Cristina Gonzalez-Rubin's death remains unsolved.
