The last time her family heard from her was on May 4, 2005, when she called her twin brother. That same day, she was seen on surveillance footage making a deposit at a Bank of America in Henderson.

Days turned into weeks with no word from Lindsay. Her family's concern grew, and she was reported missing. The investigation into her disappearance led to the discovery of her rental car, abandoned in the desert. There had been no activity on her credit cards since she was last seen. The search for Lindsay Harris took a grim turn on May 23, 2005, nearly 1,600 miles away from where she was last seen. A group of children playing near Interstate 55 in Divernon, Illinois, a small town south of Springfield, made a gruesome discovery: a severed human leg. The following day, a second leg was found nearby.
